About Our Organization

The TRA Student Circle

In 2018, the members of The Reiki Alliance voted to amend our bylaws to allow for a non-voting class of membership composed of practitioners of Usui Shiki Ryoho and students. The TRA Student Circle was born from this change.

What is our mission?

The Reiki Alliance Student Circle is an inclusive program for all students of the spiritual practice of Usui Shiki Ryoho (USR). The Circle is intended to provide opportunities that broaden student understanding of USR and allow our students to connect internationally with other practitioners of USR.

The Reiki Alliance

Who are we?

The Reiki Alliance is an international community of Reiki Masters practicing and teaching Usui Shiki Ryoho (translation from Japanese: the Usui System of Reiki Healing). We consider ourselves as stewards of Usui Shiki Ryoho by maintaining the time-honored form passed through the direct spiritual lineage of Mikao Usui, Chujiro Hayashi, Hawayo Takata, Phyllis Lei Furumoto, and Johannes Reindl.

In 1982 masters initiated by both Hawayo Takata and Phyllis Furumoto were invited to Hawaii for a meeting. The group who came to Hawaii acknowledged Phyllis Lei Furumoto as Hawayo Takata’s successor. They decided to meet again in 1983 in British Columbia. During this meeting, The Reiki Alliance was founded to honor the system taught by Hawayo Takata with continued stewardship of this practice.

What is our mission?

The mission of The Reiki Alliance is to honor and practice Usui Shiki Ryoho, acknowledge the spiritual lineage, support one another and deepen our experience as masters.
